Appointments to the Workforce Investment Board

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the appointments of Kristin Cornuella, as the Local Business Representative and Kathleen Barber, as the Local Labor Representative to the Workforce Investment Board, each to a term expiring June 30, 2010.

BACKGROUND:

The applications of Kristin Cornuella and Kathleen Barber to become members of the Workforce Investment Board (WIB) were reviewed by the WIB Board Development Committee on March 15, 2007 and were recommended for approval.

DISCUSSION:

Kristin Cornuella is currently an Associate with Orrick, Herrington, & Sutcliffe LLP. Ms. Cornuella has been active in the workforce arena for many years. She had previously served as Vice President of Business Services for Poplar ReCare, now known as Community Gateway.

Kathleen Barber is currently the Training Director for the San Mateo County Electrical Joint Apprenticeship. Ms. Barber has extensive experience with outreach to schools and community based organizations. She had previously served as a member of the advisory board to the San Mateo Adult School.
