COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

POLICE CHIEF

LEE G. VIOLETT

SAN BRUNO POLICE DEPARTMENT

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, CHIEF LEE G. VIOLETT began his career in 1972 as an officer in the San Mateo Police Department and officially retired December 2006 after 34 years of service in the law enforcement community; and

   

WHEREAS, CHIEF LEE G. VIOLETT was born and raised in San Francisco and moved with his parents to San Bruno in 1964. CHIEF VIOLETT married his wife Stavroulla over 34 years ago with whom he raised their son and daughter, and holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice from the College of San Mateo, Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco, and a Master’s Degree in Management from California Polytechnic University in Pomona; and

   

WHEREAS, CHIEF LEE G. VIOLETT, during his 26 years with the San Mateo Police Department, served in nearly every role and specialty assignment, including supervision and management of patrol, investigations, traffic bureau, SWAT, Peer Support Team and the Field Training Program, and was promoted through the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant and became Captain in 1994; and

   

WHEREAS, CHIEF LEE G. VIOLETT has many current and past affiliations with leadership programs and professional organizations, including graduate of the Leadership San Mateo/Foster City Program, graduate of the POST Command College, served as Sergeant of Arms on the Command College Alumni Association’s Board of Directors, served as President of the Board of Directors for Region II of the California Peace Officers Association, and served as President of the San Mateo County Police Chiefs and Sheriff’s Association.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on April 27, 2007, hereby honors and commends POLICE CHIEF LEE G. VIOLETT for his many of years of commitment to the safety and well being of our community, and congratulates him on his retirement after 34 years of dedicated service in law enforcement.
