THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
*RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING*
*Nancy Steiger*
	WHEREAS, Nancy Steiger was appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the San Mateo Medical Center in March 2002 with a strong background in nursing, healthcare and leadership, to steer the organization forward as it completed its renovation into a new hospital; and

	WHEREAS, Nancy Steiger established a mission, vision, and values for the San Mateo Medical Center to guide the organization, its employees, medical staff, and volunteers in serving their patients and the community; and

	WHEREAS, Nancy Steiger brought energy and enthusiasm to engage employees, medical staff and volunteers to embrace the challenges of healthcare and seek to continually improve the quality and safety of care provided; and

	WHEREAS, Nancy Steiger was a voice and advocate for patient safety, leading San Mateo Medical Center to adopt policies and practices to continually advance patient safety; and

	WHEREAS, Nancy Steiger skillfully lead the organization to expand services for the benefit of the community, including Burlingame Long-Term Care, Ron Robinson Senior Care Center, expansion of primary care clinics, development of an infusion center, and establishment of on-site MRI services; and

	WHEREAS, Nancy Steiger has been a champion to implement healthcare technology that improves health outcomes, quality and safety of care, and cost effectiveness; and

	WHEREAS, Nancy Steiger lead San Mateo Medical Center to the forefront of medical centers across the nation with its implementation of the Health Care Interpreter Network video interpretation system, improving access and quality of care for diverse populations.

	NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors expresses its sincere gratitude to Nancy Steiger for her outstanding contribution to the County of San Mateo and the San Mateo Medical Center that she has proudly served.
