Lathrop House Roof Replacement (Project No. P14Z1)
Recommendation
Adopt a resolution adopting plans and specifications, determining prevailing wage scales, and calling for sealed proposals for the replacement of the cedar shingle roof at the Lathrop House.
Vision Alignment
Commitment: Ensure basic health and safety for all.
Goal 7: Maintain and enhance the public safety of all residents and visitors.
Your Board’s adoption of the proposed resolution can result in a project to replace a major building system at the Lathrop House for the benefit of both the employees and the public that use this facility.
Background
The existing shingle roof is over 20 years old, has reached the end of its useful life, and needs to be replaced. Plans and specifications for the Lathrop House Roof Replacement have been prepared and approved by the Director of Public Works. The bid process will identify a contractor to perform this work.
Discussion
The proposed project will remove the existing cedar shingles and replace them with new cedar shingles. The existing finials will also be refinished.
A resolution has been approved as to form by County Counsel.
Fiscal Impact
The work is estimated to cost $115,000, including contingency. This project is included in the 2006-2007 Capital Projects Budget and is financed with facility surcharges.
