Resolution (A) Waiving the Competitive Procurement Process, and (B) Authorizing the Purchasing Agent to Enter into a Purchase Order with Peterson Tractor Company Governmental Sales, for the Purchase of Construction Equipment, and (C) Authorizing the Director of Public Works to Sign the Grant Agreement with the California Air Resources Board to Receive up to One Million Two Hundred Thousand Dollars in Grant Funding, and (D) Authorizing the Allocation of up to $419,995 from the Road Fund as Matching Funds for the Grant.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has submitted a grant application to the California Air Resources Board for One Million Two Hundred Thousand Dollars for the purchase for construction and off-road equipment; and

 

WHEREAS, the California Air Resources Board requires that only vendors and equipment it has certified be used to make purchases with these grants, and

 

WHEREAS, Peterson Tractor Company Governmental Sales meets these qualifications and also offers special governmental pricing for the desired equipment; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant from California Air Resources Board requires that the County provide matching funds in order to qualify for the grant, and while it is expected that the total purchase price will be $1,619,995, and the total purchase price will not exceed $1,619,995, the exact purchase price is not yet known; and

 

WHEREAS, the County’s share of the funds, i.e., the matching funds are available within the budget for the Road Fund.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that (A) the competitive procurement process is waived, and (B) the Purchasing Agent is authorized to enter into a Purchase Order for up to a maximum of $1,619,995 with Peterson Tractor Company Governmental Sales for the purchase of the construction equipment described in the accompanying Board of Supervisors memo, and (C) the Director of Public Works or his designee is authorized to sign the agreement with the California Air Resources Board to receive up to One Million Two Hundred Thousand Dollars in grant funding for the purchase of said equipment, and (D) up to $419,995 is authorized to be used from the Road Fund to purchase the equipment, with the understanding that said Road Funds will serve as matching funds for the California Air Resources Board grant.
