THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION HONORING

REDWOOD GENERAL TIRE SERVICE COMPANY

On its

50th ANNIVERSARY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

   

WHEREAS, the Redwood General Tire Service Company is celebrating fifty years of service to our communities; and

   

WHEREAS, in May 1957, Ernest and Dorothy Redfern opened the doors in their new tire store on 660 Jefferson Avenue in Redwood City. Through hard work and dedication to serving its growing clientele, the Redferns moved their tire store to a larger location on 757 Jefferson Avenue in 1960; and

   

WHEREAS, continued growth prompted another move to its current location on 1630 Broadway, a larger facility designed specifically for tires and automotive service; and

 

WHEREAS, with the death of Ernest Redfern in 1971, their son, Dave assumed the position of owner/manager, and in 1985, formed a partnership with Alpio Barbara, and the tire company continued to flourish and take its place in the community as an outstanding business; and

 

WHEREAS, over the years, the Redwood General Tire Service Company became a leader in support of several Little League teams, Police Athletic League, Sequoia Awards, Rotary Club, Downtown Business Group and youth organizations.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors congratulates the Redwood General Tire Service Company on its 50th anniversary and for its dedicated service to our communities. We wish you the best for continued success.
