RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A TWO YEAR GRANT FROM THE METROPOLITAN TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION IN THE AMOUNT OF $250,000 AND THE TERM JULY 1, 2007 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2009 TO CONTINUE THE WAYS TO WORK TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR LOW-INCOME RESIDENTS OF SAN MATEO COUNTY

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, The Human Services Agency (HSA) worked collaboratively with the CORE Services Agency Network and submitted a proposal to fund a Transportation Assistance Program for low-Income residents and in January 2007, HSA was notified that the project proposal was approved by the MTC board in December 2006; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ways To Work Family (WtW) Loan Program will provide loans to help families with: the purchase of a reliable and safe automobile to get to work on time; repairs for their automobile; or car insurance and help families to establish a positive credit history, reduce work missed, reduce time in transit to work and increase their opportunities to attend job-related education programs; and

 

WHEREAS, it is being asked that the Board of Supervisors accept a grant in the amount of $250,000 from the MTC for the purpose of HSA, in collaboration with the CORE Services Agency Network, implementing the WtW Program in July 2007; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board determines that it is in the best interest of the County to accept the MTC grant.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to accept the MTC grant for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo.
