Standing Committee Assignments for 2007
Background
On April 10, 2007 our Board unanimously adopted a resolution to establish five standing committees and set standing rules to enhance the Board’s efficiency and efficacy in policy setting.
The five standing committees are:
§ Criminal Justice
§ Environmental Quality
§ Finance and Operation
§ Housing, Health and Human Services
§ Legislative
The next step in creating the standing committees was to assign two Board members to each of the five standing committees.

Recommendation
Approve the following Board Members to the five Standing Committees for the remainder of 2007:
Criminal Justice: Supervisors Mark Church and Adrienne Tissier
Environmental Quality: Supervisors Rich Gordon and Jerry Hill
Finance and Operation: Supervisors Mark Church and Rich Gordon

The County Manager’s Office has assigned appropriate staff to work with us to determine and designate the most convenient meeting times and locations for the standing committee meetings. Assigned staff will also assist in setting the agenda for the first organizing and informational meeting. Additionally, I have asked the County Manager and County Counsel to draft an outline of rules and procedures that standing committees of the board need to observe. It is anticipated that the first standing committee meetings will be held in July and meet monthly throughout the remainder of 2007.

Again, thank you for your support throughout the process establishing standing committees of the board.
