RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING

Michael J. Crilly

Upon Being Named

2007 Superintendent of the Year for Region V

Association of California School Administrators

WHEREAS, Michael J. Crilly has served the Jefferson Union High School District since 1971, when he joined the district as a student teacher and then as an instructor in 1972 at Oceana High School; and

WHEREAS, always a teacher at heart, Mike worked his way up through the ranks, becoming an administrator in 1979, leading to roles as vice principal and principal of Oceana and Westmoor high schools; and

WHEREAS, under Mike’s guidance as superintendent since 1994, the district has weathered and survived multiple financial storms, retention and enrollment challenges as well as academic performance issues; and

WHEREAS, Mike’s lifelong dedication to public education is matched only by his commitment to his community, as underscored by Mike’s long-standing participation with the chambers of commerce for Daly City/Colma and Pacifica; and

WHEREAS, Mike’s quiet demeanor and quick smile mask a deeply rooted passion for youth and his community; a selfless willingness to work for the benefit of others, while neither receiving nor expecting reward or fanfare.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Michael J. Crilly upon being named Superintendent of the Year for Region V of the Association of California School Administrators. The honor is well deserved. The Board hereby expresses its gratitude and extends to Mike and his family sincere wishes for continued excellence.
