PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF JULY 2007

RECREATION AND PARKS MONTH IN SAN MATEO COUNTY

 

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS it has come to the attention of the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County that we

are fortunate to have a variety of park agencies providing countless recreational opportunities for residents and visitors in the County; and

   

WHEREAS, parks help to preserve and protect the natural and cultural resources of the County and provide facilities offering pleasant surroundings for leisure activities, relaxation, and positive recreational experiences; and

   

WHEREAS, recreation and parks programs reach millions of children, adults and seniors through facilities and programs each year; and

   

WHEREAS, safe recreation and parks programs help prevent social problems, provide positive alternatives for youth, contribute to good health, and generally help provide an overall improved quality of life; and

   

WHEREAS, recreation and parks services support more productive workforces, enhance the desirability of locations for business and families, and stimulate tourism revenues to increase a total community economic development model; and

 

WHEREAS, all levels of government and private enterprise throughout the State participate in the planning, development and operation of recreation and parks facilities.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors takes pride in proclaiming the Month of July as “RECREATION AND PARKS MONTH,” and encourages all residents to enjoy, recognize and help promote the benefits derived from San Mateo County’s quality recreation and parks resources, which provide something of value to everyone.
