BACKGROUND:

The San Mateo County Parks and Recreation Foundation (Foundation) has received donations and/or pledges for $6.8 million for various and numerous park improvements since its inception in 1998. The remainder is dedicated for projects to be done in future years.

In addition to these donations and gifts, the Foundation’s activities during FY 2006-07 included promotion of County Parks with the “July is Parks and Recreation Month” commercial and the Tour de Peninsula bike ride, dedication of many hours associated with the Parks for the Future campaign, Foundation strategic planning, focused fundraising for the Edgewood Park and Natural Preserve Interpretive Center; and distribution of Teacher’s Guides and Park Packs.
