BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE SAN FRANCISCO FOUNDATION AND THE BAY AREA WORKFORCE FUNDING COLLABORATIVE GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $185,000 AND TERM OF APRIL 1, 2007 TO MARCH 30, 2009 FOR EMPLOYMENT SERVICES TO DISADVANTAGED ADULTS AND YOUTH

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the San Francisco Foundation And the Bay Area Workforce Funding Collaborative awarded the Human Services Agency a grant in the amount of $185,000 and term of April 2007 to March 2009 for the purpose of providing continued career training in the field of bio-technology; and

 

WHEREAS, the Human Services Agency and the San Mateo County Workforce Investment Board, in collaboration with Skyline College, will continue to provide a gateway training program targeting disadvantaged adults and youth that leads to entry-level positions in the bio-technology industry and the program includes career orientation, skills enhancement in reading and math, soft skills training, and support services leading to employment opportunities; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such grant and said Board has examined and approved same as to both form and content and determines such grant is in the best interest of the County.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of the Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to accept said grant agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo.
