RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH PER DIEM STAFFING SYSTEMS, INC. TO PROVIDE SAN MATEO MEDICAL CENTER (SMMC) WITH TEMPORARY RESPIRATORY STAFFING, INCREASING THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT PAYABLE THEREUNDER BY $150,000 TO $300,000, EXTENDING THE TERM OF THE AGREEMENT BY ONE YEAR, TO MARCH 31, 2008, AND ADDING THE ORDINANCE CODE’S JURY DUTY PROVISIONS TO THE AGREEMENT

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS; the County and Per Diem Staffing Systems, Inc. entered into an Agreement for the purpose of providing San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) with temporary respiratory staffing on April 4, 2006, by Resolution 67908; and

 

WHEREAS, SMMC has recently been unable to recruit Respiratory Department staff, compelling the use of traveler staff in order to maintain minimum staffing levels; and

 

WHEREAS, due to vacancies and shortages in the Respiratory Department, it is necessary to continue to contract with respiratory therapists to provide San Mateo Medical Center with access to respiratory staff available to fill in for vacancies when necessary and to maintain maximum access to the available work force; and

 

WHEREAS, Per Diem Staffing is the only traveler registry willing to provide part-time temporary respiratory services to SMMC; and

 
 

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the Agreement by, increasing the maximum amount of the Agreement by $150,000 changing the Agreement obligation from $150,000 to $300,000, extending the term of the Agreement by one year, making the new term of the Agreement April 1, 2006 to March 31, 2008, and adding the Ordinance Code’s Jury Duty provisions to the Agreement; and

 

WHEREAS, there have been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance an Amendment to the Agreement between the County of San Mateo and Per Diem Staffing Systems, Inc., reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, and the Board of Supervisors has examined and approved the same as to form and content and desires to enter into the same.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendment to the Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signatures thereto.
