RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH SEQUOIA HEALTH SERVICES FOR TERTIARY MEDICAL SERVICES FOR THE 2005-2006 FISCAL YEAR, INCREASING THE MAXIMUM AGREEMENT OBLIGATION BY $25,000 FROM $350,000 TO $375,000.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, Sequoia Health Services has been a partner of San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) for years and has provided high quality, cost effective care; and

WHEREAS, San Mateo County is responsible for providing medical care to its population, and SMMC as a general acute care hospital, does not provide certain highly specialized services; and

WHEREAS, an amendment to the Agreement with Sequoia Health Services is needed to ensure that the County can pay for services received; and

WHEREAS, services provided under this agreement are for services that require technical capabilities that were and are not presently provided at SMMC; and

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board for its consideration and approval an Amendment to the Agreement, reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, whereby the maximum amount payable thereunder is increased by $25,000 from $350,000 to $375,000; and

WHEREAS, this Board has examined and approved the Amendment to the Agreement as to both form and content and desires to enter into it.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby to execute said Amendment to the Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signature thereto.
