PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING JULY 4, 2007, AS | ||||
PENINSULA CELEBRATION ASSOCIATION DAY 69TH Annual Fourth of July Parade | ||||

WHEREAS, Redwood City, the county seat of San Mateo County should be a parade capital. The first parade conducted here occurred on July 4, 1887, when outside the old courthouse there was a 30-gun salute that put the Redwood City Brass Band and other marching units into motion; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the Peninsula Celebration Association is presenting the 69th Annual Independence Day Parade in San Mateo County on July 4, 2007; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the Peninsula Celebration Association exemplifies volunteerism by bringing together community volunteers who put forth an amazing amount of energy and exhibit remarkable expertise to put this celebration together; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Symetra Financial, the Platinum Sponsor of the 69th Annual Independence Day Parade is providing an exemplary level of support for Peninsula Celebration Association’s great family event. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors hereby designates July 4, 2007 as this great partnership between the Peninsula Celebration Association and Symetra Financial in presenting the patriotic events of Independence Day, 2007. | ||||
