ADOPT A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH ANGELICA TEXTILE SERVICES, INC. TO EXTEND THE TERM OF THE AGREEMENT TO PROVIDE LINEN AND LAUNDRY MANAGEMENT AT SAN MATEO MEDICAL CENTER (SMMC) AND BURLINGAME LONG TERM CARE BY TWO MONTHS TO AUGUST 31, 2007

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, On June 29, 2004, the Board of Supervisors, by Resolution Number 66776, authorized an Agreement with Golden State Services to provide linen and laundry management at San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) and Burlingame Long Term Care; and

WHEREAS, On February 8, 2005, the Board of Supervisors, by Resolution Number 067173, authorized an Amendment to the Agreement to change all references to “Golden State Services” to “Angelica Textile Services, Inc.”, due to a company merger; and

WHEREAS, a Request for Proposal (RFP) for linen services is currently being developed and will be published in early June with a contract anticipated to be awarded in July; and

WHEREAS, SMMC will have a continuing need for linen service while the RFP process is pending; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of Amendment to the Agreement to extend its term by two months, and has examined and approved it as to both form and content and desires to enter into the same:

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute the Amendment for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signatures thereto.
