Re-appointment to the Commission on Disabilities

Recommendation
|
It is recommended that Terri Byrne, Patricia Dixon, James Engvall, Elizabeth Furber, Allan Newlands, Michelle Antonio O’Brien, Diane Smith and Greg Wild be re-appointed to the Commission on Disabilities each to a term expiring on June 30, 2010.

Background
|
In order to ensure full community participation of people with disabilities, members who sit on the Commission on Disabilities promote programs that address quality of service and positive attitudes about people with disabilities. They also review and report on availability and accessibility of community services to people with special needs, establish a channel of communication with the community to garner input and educate the public to the needs of persons with disabilities.

Discussion
|
Terri Byrne, Patricia Dixon, James Engvall, Elizabeth Furber, Allan Newlands, Michelle Antonio O’Brien, Diane Smith and Greg Wild have each served one or more terms on the Commission on Disabilities and are seeking to be re-appointed to an additional term. The Executive Council of the Commission on Disabilities has reviewed their participation and has recommended they be allowed to continue in their roles as Commissioners for another term.
