RECOMMENDATION
|
Honor Jose Miramontes as Employee of the Month for July 2007 and authorize the President of the Board to sign the commendation.

BACKGROUND
|
The Employee of the Month program was established in December 1984 to recognize and honor County employees who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.
|
|
|
Our Employee of the Month for July 2007 is Jose Miramontes, a Custodian in the Public Works Department.
|
|
|
DISCUSSION
|
Jose has been an employee of San Mateo County for eighteen years and is a custodian in the Public Works Department. In Jose’s current assignment, he rotates throughout the North County facilities, filling in for vacations in addition to performing as the floors expert, ensuring that all the floors are well maintained. Jose was nominated by more than twenty-five of his customers at the Central Library who state ”Jose goes the extra mile, he is an outstanding custodian who gives more than 100% every time he is assigned to us.” Jose’s customers appreciate his thoroughness, his attention to detail and his consideration of other employees. Jose’s supervisor states that Jose is an exceptional employee who has the ability to work efficiently in any of our locations. He continues to receive excellent feedback from customer surveys on Jose’s level of service and he is admired for his incredible work ethic. The Library staff describes Jose as a custodian “par excellence” and a most pleasant person to interact with. His customer service skills are in a class by themselves.
