THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION HONORING | ||||
Raychem/Tyco Electronics On its50th ANNIVERSARY | ||||

WHEREAS, the Raychem business of Tyco Electronics, headquartered in Menlo Park/Redwood City, is celebrating Fifty Years of Innovation; and | ||||
WHEREAS, Raychem was first incorporated as Raytherm Corporation in 1957 by founder Paul Cook, a chemical engineer, who saw potential in a relatively new branch of science--radiation chemistry; and | ||||
WHEREAS, for more than three decades, Raychem grew at an average rate of 25 percent per year, fueled by its reputation as a leading innovator of new technologies in a myriad of industries such as aerospace, automotive, computer, defense, medical, environmental protection, telecommunications and utilities. Today, Raychem manufactures over 50,000 different products, each of which is based on some advanced technology likely invented by the company itself; and | ||||
WHEREAS, in 1999 Tyco International Ltd. acquired Raychem Corporation forming the basis for Tyco Electronics and today has over 90,000 employees and is one of the world's largest producers of industrial electronics components. | ||||
WHEREAS, Raychem has become a leader in the technology industry and contributed the economic growth of San Mateo County and supported numerous civic organizations including Christmas in April, Habitat for Humanity, CARE, Heartwalk, United Way to mention a few. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors congratulates Raychem/Tyco Electronics on its 50 Years of Innovation and for its dedicated service to our communities. We wish you the best for continued success. | ||||
