THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING AUGUST 2007 AS

CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH

WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo is committed to encouraging parents to provide their children with the emotional and financial support they need; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Child Support Services assists over 19, 500 children by establishing and enforcing court orders for child support and health insurance; and

 

The Department's efforts have amounted to $205 million in child support collections during FFY 2000--2006; and

   

WHEREAS, the Department has consistently improved their performance on all the federal child support performance measures so that now 86.4% of the cases have orders, 61% of cases have collection, and 65.2% of the current support dollars owed are paid; and

 

WHEREAS, it is important to educate the community about the legal responsibilities of parenthood and the availability of child support services provided by the Department of Child Support Services.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors and the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby designates August 2007 as “Child Support Awareness Month” in San Mateo County.
