RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF AB 399 (FEUER), LONG-TERM HEALTH CARE FACILITIES

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, abuse and neglect are growing problems in California nursing homes; and

WHEREAS, an effective complaint investigation system is the foremost public safeguard against abuse and neglect of nursing home residents; and

WHEREAS, AB 399 will help fight abuse and neglect by improving the timing and quality of nursing home complaint investigations; and

WHEREAS, AB 399 will establish a 40-day period to investigate complaints; and

WHEREAS, AB 399 will ensure that complainants are provided more information and opportunity to understand the investigation;

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors by adoption of this resolution supports AB 399 (Feuer), Long-term health care facilities.
