RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF AB 1113 (BROWNLEY), MEDI-CAL: ELIGIBILITY

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, current law that allows any employed individual with a disability who meets specified income and resource requirements to be eligible for benefits under the Medi-Cal program will sunset in 2008; and

WHEREAS, AB 1113 deletes t2008 sunset date for the program; and

WHEREAS, AB 1113 would also creates a number of changes that increase eligibility for the program; and

WHEREAS, AB 1113 also permits individuals otherwise eligible for the CWD program, but who are temporarily not working, to remain in the program for up to 18 months, provided the individuals continue to pay the premiums during the temporary non-working period;

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Commission on Disabilities has determined this bill to be one of the Commission’s top 10 legislative priorities;

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors by adoption of this resolution supports AB 1113 (Brownley), Medi-Cal: eligibility.
