BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE A THREE-YEAR AGREEMENT WITH BELMONT - SAN CARLOS FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THE PROVISION OF A COUNTYWIDE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,430,383, AND A TERM COMMENCING JULY 1, 2007 TO JUNE 30, 2010.

 

    RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

    WHEREAS, the Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team (HazMat) was formed in 1985 through a Joint Powers Authority, and is a multi-agency response team which services all 21 cities and the unincorporated areas of the County; and

 

    WHEREAS, on July 27, 2004, the County entered into three (3) year Agreement with Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department (BSCFD) to provide hazardous materials emergency response services, and said Agreement was amended on September 19, 2006, to expire on June 30, 2007; and

 

    WHEREAS, a new Agreement was negotiated and the terms and conditions agreed upon by the involved parties, and was approved by the BSCFD Board and by the Countywide Emergency Services Council in June, 2007, and

 
 

    WHEREAS, the proposed Agreement provides for countywide hazardous materials response services for the period of July, 2007 though June, 2010; establishes a framework for improved management, communication, accountability, and adequate cost reimbursement in the delivery of countywide hazardous materials response services; with a not-to-exceed total cost of One Million, Four Hundred Thirty Thousand, Three Hundred Eighty-Three Dollars ($1,430,383) for the three-year period; and

 

    WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such Agreement and has examined and approved same as to both form and content, and desires to enter into same:

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT: the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized to, execute said Agreement with Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
