RECOMMENDATION:

Confirm Sang-ick Chang as the Chief Executive Officer of the San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC).

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
|
The County has conducted a recruitment for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC). Dr. Chang has been nominated by the County Manager as the best candidate for this position based on his extensive experience in public health, patient care and hospital operations including the past six years in progressively responsible positions with SMMC, most recently as Chief Operating Officer and interim CEO. The Charter requires the Board of Supervisors to confirm appointments of department heads nominated by the County Manager.

Dr. Chang’s monthly salary will be $19,134.
