Health Services Emergency Generator Replacement

Recommendation

Adopt a resolution awarding and authorizing execution of a contract with ERA Construction, Inc. for the amount of $158,345 for the Health Services Emergency Generator Replacement Project.

Your Board’s adoption of the proposed resolution will result in a project to replace a major Health Services facility system for the benefit of both the employees and the public that use this facility.

 

Background

 

Previous Board Action

Adopted Resolution No. 068835 on June 26, 2007, which adopted plans and specifications, determined prevailing wage scales and called for sealed proposals for the proposed work.

 

Discussion

On July 31, 2007, bids were accepted for this project and subsequently referred to this office for checking and recommendation. The bids have been checked and the base bid of:

 

ERA Construction, Inc.

396 Cottonwood Street

Vacaville, CA 95688

 

at $143,950 was the lowest bid received. The Engineer’s estimate was $160,000. A summary of the bids received is as follows:

The Contract includes all required contract provisions and the Contractor has documented compliance with all relevant provisions including equal benefits and jury service provisions of the County ordinance codes.

 

A resolution has been approved as to form by County Counsel.

 

Fiscal Impact

The work is estimated to cost $158,345, including a ten percent (10%) contingency. This project is included in the 2006-2007 Capital Projects Budget and is financed with Health Services and General Funds.
