BACKGROUND:
Dr. Richard Hom has provided optometry services to the San Mateo Medical Center for the last several years. In particular, these services include general eye health, the diagnosis and identification for diseases of the eye, and clinics for eye injury, trauma, or refractive corrections. Patients treated at SMMC have a continuous need for such eye care services. Dr. Richard Hom offers the hospital the benefit of an experienced provider familiar with the complex nature of the County’s patient base.
DISCUSSION:
Because of the demand for optometry services at San Mateo Medical Center and its outlying clinics, the maximum total of clinics has been maintained at ten half day clinics per week.
Risk Management and County Counsel have also approved the Agreement. The contractor has assured compliance with the County's Contractor Employee Jury Service Ordinance, as well as all other Agreement provisions that are required by County ordinance and administrative memoranda, including but not limited to insurance, hold harmless, non-discrimination and equal benefits.
TERM AND FISCAL IMPACT:
The term of the Agreement is from September 1, 2007 through August 31, 2008. The maximum amount County shall reimburse Contractor under this Agreement is $118, 786.75. The previous maximum amount of this Agreement was $116,457.60. This Agreement represents a 2% increase over the prior year. Funds are included in the San Mateo Medical Center's FY2007-08 Tentatively Adopted Budget and will be requested in the FY2008-09 Budget.
