BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION 1) AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FOOD AND AGRICULTURE FOR THE PIERCE’S DISEASE /GLASSY-WINGED SHARPSHOOTER CONTROL PROGRAM FOR THE TERM OF JULY 1, 2007 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2010 IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $986,996.97; AND 2) DESIGNATING THE AGRICULTURAL COMMISSIONER AS THE LOCAL PUBLIC ENTITY AUTHORIZED TO RECEIVE THESE LOCAL ASSISTANCE FUNDS; AND 3) AUTHORIZING THE AGRICULTURAL COMMISSIONER TO EXECUTE FUTURE CONTRACT AMENDMENTS SHOULD ADDITIONAL FUNDING BE ALLOCATED FOR EXPANDED WORK ACTIVITIES DURING FISCAL YEARS 2007-08, 2008-09, AND 2009-10

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance an Agreement, reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, whereby the County of San Mateo agrees to conduct detection surveys and nursery stock inspections for the Glassy-winged Sharpshooter to prevent the spread of Pierce’s Disease for the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) set forth in the Agreement; and

 

WHEREAS, both parties now wish to enter into an Agreement to conduct detection surveys and nursery stock inspections for the period of July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2010 for a total obligation of $986,996.97, including an annual reimbursement of $328,998.99 for the fiscal years 2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-10; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such Agreement and said Board has examined and approved same as to both form and content and desires to enter into same:

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be and hereby is authorized and directed to execute said Agreement with the CDFA in an amount not to exceed $986,996.97 for the Pierce’s Disease Control Program for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest to the President’s signature thereto.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Agricultural Commissioner is hereby designated as the local public entity to receive funds allocated by the CDFA for local assistance in regard to Pierce’s Disease/Glassy-winged Sharpshooter Control Program.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Agricultural Commissioner is hereby authorized to execute additional amendments to this Agreement with the CDFA for the purpose of accepting additional funding if it is made available during Fiscal Years 2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-10, provided no such amended agreement would require the expenditure or commitment of County funds.
