RESOLUTION: 1) AUTHORIZING THE PROBATION DEPARTMENT TO CONTINUE TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE AND UTILIZE $42,036 FEDERAL FUNDS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILITY BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY THE STATE CORRECTIONS STANDARDS AUTHORITY; 2) AUTHORIZING MATCHING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,671 TO COMPLY WITH THE STATUTES AND REGULATIONS OF THE JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILITY BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM; AND 3) AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF PROBATION OFFICER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SUBMIT THE JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILITY BLOCK GRANT APPLICATION AND SIGN THE GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE CORRECTIONS STANDARDS AUTHORITY, INCLUDING ANY AMENDMENTS, ON BEHALF OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO.

 

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Probation Department has historically applied for and received, and desires to continue to apply for, receive and utilize federal grant funds available through the Juvenile Accountability Block Grants (JABG) Program administered by the Corrections Standards Authority (hereafter referred to as CSA); and

 

WHEREAS, receipt of said funding requires that the County of San Mateo Board of Supervisors authorize acceptance of the grant, and that the County commits to providing matching funds and to comply with the statutes and regulations governing the JABG program as well as the terms and conditions of the Grant Agreement as set forth by CSA; and

 

WHEREAS, in order to meet the application deadlines, it has been necessary for the Chief Probation Officer, or the Chief’s designee, to execute and submit the application for said grant funding by May 7, 2007, and this Board of Supervisors wishes to ratify the execution of the application, and to authorize the Chief or his designee to execute any other documents necessary to secure said grant funding.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the Chief Probation Officer, or his Designee, to submit the JABG application and sign the Grant Agreement with the CSA, including any amendments thereto, on behalf of the County of San Mateo; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that San Mateo County agrees to accept JABG funding and abide by the statutes and regulations governing the JABG program as well as the terms and conditions of the Grant Agreement as set forth by CSA, authorizes the Chief Probation Officer or his Designee to submit the JABG application and sign the Grant Agreement with the CSA, including any amendments, on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and will provide $4,671 in matching funds required for said project.
