RESOLUTION 1)AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO AN AGREEMENT WITH KEVIN HARPER TO PROVIDE ACCOUNTING ASSISTANCE AND ADVICE TO SAN MATEO MEDICAL CENTER FOR A TERM OF JANUARY 1, 2007 TO DECEMBER 31, 2008 AND INCREASING THE AMOUNT BY 100,000 FOR A TOTAL AMOUNT PAYABLE NOT TO EXCEED $200,000 AND 2)AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) OF SAN MATEO MEDICAL CENTER OR THE CEO’S DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE CONTRACT AMENDMENTS WHICH MODIFY THE COUNTY’S MAXIMUM FISCAL OBLIGATION BY NO MORE THAN $25,000 (IN AGGREGATE), AND/OR MODIFY THE CONTRACT TERM AND/OR SERVICES SO LONG AS THE MODIFIED TERM OR SERVICES IS/ARE WITHIN THE CURRENT OR REVISED FISCAL PROVISIONS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) contracted with Kevin Harper, CPA, in January 2007 to provide accounting assistance and advice; and

WHEREAS, in March, 2007, the San Mateo Medical Center Accounting Manager retired unexpectedly; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Harper has assisted the SMMC while it recruited a replacement for the retired manager; and

WHEREAS, this unexpected work has significantly depleted the available funds under Mr. Harper’s current agreement; and

WHEREAS, in order for Mr. Harper to continue with the requirements of his current contract it is necessary to increase the maximum amount payable under this contract by $100,000 to $200,000; and

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance an Amendment to the Agreement with Kevin Harper, reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, whereby Kevin Harper will provide accounting assistance and advice to SMMC for the term January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2008 for a maximum amount payable of $200,000; and

WHEREAS, this Board has considered this Amendment, and has approved it as to both form and content, and desires to enter into it.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the President of the Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendment for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signatures thereto.

IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief Executive Officer of San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) shall be authorized to execute contract amendments which modify the County's maximum fiscal obligation by no more than $25,000 (in aggregate), and/or modify the contract term and/or services so long as the modified term or services is/are within the current or revised fiscal provisions.
