Disposition of Claims Filed Against County

RECOMMENDATION:

Deny the claims listed below.

BACKGROUND:

Under authority of Resolution No. 35006 and Ordinance No. 2321, the Board directed the Director to process claims filed against the County. Further investigation may indicate justification for payment by the County. If so, payment will be made under the authority of the Risk Manager or will be brought back to the Board.

Claimants allege they suffered extreme pain, mental anguish, and emotional distress due to having their children taken away by Child Protective Services and exposing them to danger in a house where sex offenders frequently visit.

Claimant alleges damage to the tire of her vehicle due to a broken signpost at Sawyer Camp Trail, which resulted in the need to replace the tire.

Claimant alleges that when she checked out of her weekend furlough at the Women's Correctional Center, her cell phone was missing from her personal effects, and subsequently, unauthorized calls were made using the phone.
