THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING

Frank & Theresa Hannig

Upon Receiving The

Distinguished Citizen Award

Pacific Skyline Council, Boy Scouts of America

WHEREAS, for more than 50 years, Frank and Theresa Hannig have tirelessly supported the Boy Scouts of America in San Mateo County, helping to ensure access by the young men of the Peninsula to the life lessons of Scouting; and

   

WHEREAS, Frank flew Navy patrol aircraft in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and earned several medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with four Gold Stars and the Philippine Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star; and

   

WHEREAS, Theresa Mariani met Frank through her brother Tom, who served as a crewmember on Frank’s Navy patrol plane; Frank and Theresa married in 1946 and raised four children together; and

   

WHEREAS, beyond Scouting, Frank’s and Theresa’s generosity with their time and resources have benefited a variety of community organizations in San Mateo County ranging from the American Red Cross to the YMCA to the Water Safety Committee to the Casa de Redwood Foundation; and

   

WHEREAS, despite Frank’s half-century dedication to Scouting, the Great Depression and family responsibilities prevented him from actually becoming a Scout; and

   

WHEREAS, regardless of oaths and titles, Frank has demonstrated time and again his unwavering adherence to always being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Frank and Theresa Hannig upon receiving the Distinguished Citizen Award presented by the Pacific Skyline Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The Board further extends to Frank and Theresa its gratitude and adds sincere wishes for many more years of continuous success and excellence.
