RESOLUTION DECLARING CERTAIN COUNTY-OWNED IMPROVED REAL PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO AS SURPLUS TO THE NEEDS OF THE COUNTY IN ORDER TO FACILITATE THE USE OF SUCH PROPERTY AS PART OF A MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT THAT INCLUDES A SIGNIFICANT HOUSING COMPONENT, BOTH MARKET RATE AND AFFORDABLE; AND AUTHORIZING THE COMMENCEMENT OF ACTIONS NECESSARY TO

DISPOSE OF SAID REAL PROPERTY

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on March 7, 1966 the County of San Mateo acquired for road purposes certain real property as recorded in 5123 O.R. 42 records of the County of San Mateo, California; and

 

WHEREAS, on May 25, 1977 the County of San Mateo transferred that portion of such real property that was not needed for road purposes, and identified as Assessor’s Parcel Number 063-221-010 (Subject Property), to the Redevelopment Agency of the County of San Mateo by quitclaim deed as recorded in 7489 O.R. 276 records of the County of San Mateo, California; and

 

WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo is successor in interest to the Redevelopment Agency of the County of San Mateo; and

 

WHEREAS, the herein described improved Subject Property is not necessary for County or other public purposes and it appears to be in the best interest of the County to sell said property subject to certain restrictions; and

 

WHEREAS, it is the desire and intent of this Board to facilitate and ensure that the sale of the Subject Property facilitates new housing opportunities in the County of San Mateo; and

 

WHEREAS, it is intended that the Subject Property will eventually be sold with deed restrictions established to ensure new housing opportunities in the County of San Mateo; and

 

WHEREAS, a notice of sale will be delivered to various public agencies pursuant to Government Code Section 54222 (b).

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED AS FOLLOWS:

    1. That it is the opinion of this Board that the Subject Property herein described and located in the County of San Mateo is surplus to the needs of the County and not needed for County or other public purposes, and;

    2. That the County Manager, or his designee, is hereby ordered and authorized to commence the process to dispose of the Subject Property in a manner that facilitates and expedites the use of the Subject Property to enhance housing opportunities in the County of San Mateo.
