Background

On June 29, 2004, the Board approved an Agreement with Golden State Services to provide linen and laundry management at SMMC and Burlingame Long Term Care. The maximum amount of the Agreement is $3,024,026 and the term of the Agreement was July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2007.

On February 8, 2005, the Agreement was amended to change all references from “Golden State Services” to “Angelica Textile Services, Inc.,” due to a company merger.

On July 10, 2007, the Board approved a second Amendment to the Agreement with Angelica Textiles Services, Inc. to extend the term of the Agreement by two months to August 31, 2007.

Discussion

A Request for Proposal (RFP) for linen services was developed and was expected to be awarded in mid July. However, the RFP was transitioned into a bid list which has been provided to the Purchasing Department in Redwood City.

To allow for continued linen service and payment of invoices received for that service until the bid is awarded, it is necessary to extend the term of the current Agreement.

County Counsel has reviewed and approved this Amendment.

Fiscal Impact

The term of this Agreement will be July 1, 2004 through December 31, 2007. The amount of the Agreement will increase by $190,104 for a maximum payable not to exceed $3,214,130. Funds are included in San Mateo Medical Center’s FY 2007-08 Adopted Budget.
