RESOLUTION

 

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

FIRE CAPTAIN EDWIN R. HAWKINS

For His Lasting Contributions to the

Fields of Labor Relations and Fire

Protection Services

WHEREAS, EDWIN R. HAWKINS began his distinguished career of service to the residents of San Mateo County on December 10, 1979 as a Police Officer with the San Mateo Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, EDWIN R. HAWKINS discovered his true calling and transferred to the San Mateo Fire Department on April 4, 1985; and

 

WHEREAS, EDWIN R. HAWKINS rapidly ascended the ranks of the Fire Department, earning a promotion to Fire Captain on July 4, 1993; and

WHEREAS, EDWIN R. HAWKINS, in addition to his commitment to the safety of the County’s residents in times of emergencies, graciously found the time to lend his expertise and talents to the field of labor relations, beginning with his role as IAFF Local 2400 District Vice-President in 1991; and

 

WHEREAS, EDWIN R. HAWKINS rose to become the President of IAFF Local 2400, where his leadership and his ability to resolve acrimonious disputes to the mutual benefit of all parties has been recognized throughout the State of California; and

 

WHEREAS, EDWIN R. HAWKINS retired on May 2, 2007 after more than twenty-seven years of unwavering, dedicated, and distinghuished service to the residents of San Mateo County and to his brothers and sisters in the Police and Fire services.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends EDWIN R. HAWKINS and honors his leadership and his achievements while serving as a Police Officer and Fire Captain for the City of San Mateo and as President of IAFF Local 2400.
