BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE THE GRANT AGREEMENT FROM THE KAISER PERMANENTE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA REGION FOR THE TERM OF OCTOBER 1, 2007 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2009, FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $150,000

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, in April 2006 your Board adopted the Blueprint for Prevention of Childhood Obesity: A Call to Action (Blueprint) as the community-informed strategic plan to promote improved nutrition and physical activity for young people across the County; and

 

WHEREAS, in developing the Blueprint, the school setting was identified as a critical area for intervention; and

 

WHEREAS, in February 2007 your Board adopted the Adolescent Report and Youth Commissioners’ Policy Recommendations, which also draws attention to strategies that promote healthy, positive youth development; and

 

WHEREAS, in September 2007 the San Mateo County Health Department was awarded a grant in the amount of $150,000 from the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Region for the term of October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2009; and

 

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Health Department and the San Mateo County Office of Education seek to jointly fund and support a Public Health Educator position which will serve as a resource to school leaders who are in positions to influence healthy development in young people, and the grant will partially fund this position:

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreement with Kaiser Permanente Northern California Region on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest to the President’s signature thereto.
