RESOLUTION

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION HONORING

 

FAITH MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH OF CHRIST

Celebrating 25 Years

WHEREAS, the Faith Missionary Baptist Church of Christ (FAITH) was born on October 17, 1982 under the leadership of Reverend Floyd J. Purdy and a group of believers in Christ in the City of East Palo Alto; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1998 through 2002, FAITH housed the San Mateo County Head Start Program; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1998 we opened our doors to the American Red Cross, their relief efforts during the El Niňo floods; and

 

WHEREAS, in 1999 the Faith Missionary Baptist Church joined Peninsula Interfaith Action (PIA). Through their participation with PIA, FAITH has worked to create more affordable housing and saved senior housing at Runnymede Gardens from being converted to market rate housing; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2003, FAITH implemented Evangelism Training and door-to-door ministry; and

 

WHEREAS, FAITH provides ongoing support for our young people and encourages them to seek higher education so that they can be better equipped to serve God.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors

honors and commends Faith Missionary Baptist Church on its 25th Anniversary and those who are working to bring increased understanding among the residents of the county and encourages others to join in this effort.
