RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING | |
CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL | |
Recognition as a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education | |

WHEREAS, CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, since 1964, has prided itself in providing a nurturing environment for its students where the intellectual, social and emotional developmental needs of each child are of the utmost importance; and | |
WHEREAS, CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S PTA Board, known for its heavy involvement in school activities, has recently pushed for a new Leveled Books Reading Program, a healthier Hot Lunch Program, and computer updates in classrooms to best facilitate the school’s needs and educational goals; and | |
WHEREAS, CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL’S successful reputation can be attributed to the highly regarded teaching staff’s exceptional instructional curriculum relying heavily on parental involvement; and | |

WHEREAS, broadening its role in environmental awareness, CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL has implemented programs within their existing curriculum including Getting Green and Kinds and Cans which create responsible attitudes towards environmental conservation and awareness; and | |
WHEREAS, in late 2005, CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL received a score of 901 on its Academic Performance Index (API), a jump of 35 points from the previous year truly exemplifying their successful educational platform; and | |
WHEREAS, CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School for its outstanding academic record. | |
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL for its exceptional academic performance; inclusive community involvement; environmental responsibility; and its conferment as a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. |
