THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

PHILLIP E. MATHEWSON

For His Lasting Contributions to the

City of Belmont and San Mateo County

WHEREAS, PHILLIP E. MATHEWSON was elected to the Belmont City Council in November of 2003; and

WHEREAS, PHILLIP E. MATHEWSON served the City of Belmont honorably and capably as Vice-Mayor in 2005 and as Mayor in 2006; and

WHEREAS, PHILLIP E. MATHEWSON supported several important policies during his tenure on the City Council that will benefit Belmont residents for many years to come, including Measure F, which further protects Belmont’s hillsides, the issuance of sewer bonds, the enactment of the smoking ordinance, and the reconstitution of the joint fire department with San Carlos; and

WHEREAS, PHILLIP E. MATHEWSON, through his service on regional policymaking bodies such as the Peninsula Congestion Relief Alliance and the City/County Association of Governments, advocated policies that improved the quality of life for residents of the entire County; and

WHEREAS, PHILLIP E. MATHEWSON, provided the residents of Belmont the highest level of service and responsiveness, and remained committed to improving their welfare and upholding their trust throughout his tenure.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends PHILLIP E. MATHEWSON for his service to the residents of Belmont as Councilmember, Vice-Mayor, and Mayor, and honors his leadership and the city- and county- wide achievements accomplished during his tenure.
