    RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF ELECTIONS OFFICER TO RENDER SPECIFIED ELECTION SERVICES TO THE RAVENSWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT, SAN MATEO-FOSTER CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT, SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2008

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, California Elections Code section 1000 provides for a regularly scheduled statewide presidential primary election to be held on February 5, 2008; and

 

WHEREAS, California Elections Code sections 10002 permits the governing body of any city of district to request, by resolution, that the County Board of Supervisors permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the city or district relating to the conduct of an election, and provides that the city or district, absent other satisfactory arrangements, shall reimburse the County in full for the services performed upon presentation of a bill to the city of district; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to state law, the governing body of the Ravenswood City School District adopted Resolution No. 925 giving notice of holding an election on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, for the purpose of submitting a parcel tax measure to the voters of the District and requesting this Board to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified election services to the District, and a service agreement therefor has been executed with the Chief Elections Officer; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to state law, the governing body of the San Mateo-Foster City Elementary School District adopted Resolution No. 42/06-07 giving notice of holding an election on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, for the purpose of submitting a bond measure to the voters of the District and requesting this Board to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified election services to the District, and a service agreement therefor has been executed with the Chief Elections Officer; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to state law, the governing body of the Sequoia Union High School District adopted Resolution No. 1356 giving notice of holding an election on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, for the purpose of submitting a bond measure to the voters of the District and requesting this Board to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified election services to the District, and a service agreement therefor has been executed with the Chief Elections Officer; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to state law, this Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County adopted Resolution No. 069094 giving notice of holding an election on Tuesday, February 5, 2008, for the purpose of submitting a special tax to the voters of County Service Area No. 1, and requesting the Chief Elections Officer to render specified election services therefor; and

 

WHEREAS, in consideration of the services and supplies to be provided by the Chief Elections Officer in conducting said elections, the Ravenswood City School District, the San Mateo-Foster City Elementary School District, and the Sequoia Union High School District will reimburse the County for the cost of election services and supplies, and the County will be responsible for all other costs, including the election for County Service Area No. 1 and the statewide contests.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Chief Elections Officer shall be, and hereby is, authorized to render the specified election services in conjunction with the February 5, 2008 presidential primary election.
