RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR TO SIGN AN AGREEMENT WITH STANDARD LIFE INSURANCE UPON APPROVAL OF THE AGREEMENT BY COUNTY COUNSEL FOR PROVISION OF LIFE INSURANCE, SUPPLEMENTAL LIFE INSURANCE AND SHORT TERM DISABILITY BENEFITS FOR COUNTY EMPLOYEES FOR THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 1, 2008 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2010

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the County and participants to solicit Requests for Proposals for life insurance and short term disability benefits, and;

WHEREAS, the County has solicited proposals from companies through a Request for Proposal process and has determine based on cost that Standard Life Insurance provides the most competitive pricing both for the County and plan participants, and;

WHEREAS, Standard Life Insurance has been selected based on their representing the least overall cost to both the County and plan participants.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the Human Resources Director to sign an agreement with Standard Life Insurance, upon approval of the agreement by County Counsel for the provision of life insurance, supplemental life insurance and short term disability benefits for County employees for the period from January 1, 2008 through December 31, 2010.
