RESOLUTION WAIVING THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL PROCESS AND AUTHORIZING THE HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR, UPON APPROVAL BY COUNTY COUNSEL, TO SIGN AN AMENDMENT TO THE CURRENT AGREEMENT WITH PACIFICARE FOR PROVISION OF HEALTH PLAN BENEFITS TO COUNTY RETIREES AND THEIR DEPENDENTS EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2008 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2008

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the County and participants to retain Pacificare’s Secure Horizons because it provides affordable coverage with little disruption in patient-physician relationships; and

WHEREAS, the County desires to approve an agreement with Secure Horizons to provide coverage from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008; and

WHEREAS, the annual premium increase for Secure Horizons is 9.5%.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors waives the Request for Proposal process and authorizes the Human Resources Director, upon County Counsel approval, to sign an agreement with Secure Horizons for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo.
