RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH GE HEALTHCARE TECHNOLOGIES FOR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE ON BIOMED AND DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING EQUIPMENT AT SAN MATEO MEDICAL CENTER AND OFF-SITE CLINICS AND FACILITIES FROM JULY 7, 2007 TO DECEMBER 17, 2007 FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $250,000

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) requires biomedical engineering services for maintenance and repair of patient care and non-patient care medical equipment and has historically used outside contractors to provide those services; and

WHEREAS, the contractor providing those services prior to July 7, 2007 was terminated due to inadequate performance; and

WHEREAS, a Request for Proposal (RFP) was conducted in October, 2007 and will be awarded in mid-November, 2007; and

WHEREAS, GE Healthcare Technologies is the only Biomed vendor offering interim service; and

WHEREAS, both parties now wish to enter into an Agreement, to provide interim preventive maintenance and service of biomed and diagnostic imaging equipment for the period July 1, 2007 to December 17, 2007, for a total obligation of $250,000; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of the Agreement and has examined and approved it as to both form and content and desires to enter into the Agreement.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signatures thereto.
