______________________________________________________________

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on February 1, 2007, Stat Nurses International, Inc., changed its name to Health Talent, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, on June 27, 2006 by Resolution No. 068117 the Board approved Agreements with AMN Healthcare, Inc., Arcadia Health Services, Inc., Cross Country TravCorps, Inc., Emerald Health Services, First Call Nursing Services, Inc., Health Talent, Medstaff, Pelican Resources Registry, Relief Nursing Services, and UNI to provide temporary staffing services at San Mateo Medical Center and Health Services (AIDS Program) for the period of July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2008, for a total collective obligation of $3,830,000; and

WHEREAS, an unanticipated increase in the need for supplemental nursing staff has resulted in the depletion of the funds for these Agreements; and

WHEREAS, even with aggressive recruitment efforts by Human Resources, the vacancy rate in the nursing department remains at more than a 14% rate. The implementation of the Nursing Ratio Legislation in January, 2004 requires more stringent ratios; and

WHEREAS, an increase in funding of $2,675,000 is required to allow for the continued use of these much needed nurse staffing registries; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of the amendments to the agreements and has examined and approved them as to both form and content and desires to enter into the agreements.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said amendments for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signatures thereto.
