THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

Ruth Stout

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, RUTH STOUT, Millbrae Library Branch Manager, is retiring after 40 years of exemplary and dedicated work with San Mateo County Library; and

WHEREAS, RUTH STOUT began her career with San Mateo County Library in September 1967 as a Children’s Librarian in Pacifica; and

WHEREAS, in 1972, RUTH STOUT moved to the Millbrae Library Branch where she continued to work with children; and

WHEREAS, in 1974, RUTH STOUT began working as Millbrae’s Branch Manager, a position which became hers on a permanent basis in 1975; and

WHEREAS, RUTH STOUT has consistently been a leader as Millbrae Branch Manager, providing a creative working environment for her staff, is a recognized expert within the Public Library System on circulation issues and was the driving force behind the community’s decision to build the beautiful Millbrae Library, which opened in November 2004.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, State of California, on December 14, 2007, hereby honors and commends RUTH STOUT for her many years of committed work to the San Mateo County Library, and congratulates her on retirement after 40 years of dedicated service.
