RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CHIEF PROBATION OFFICER TO

EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE PROBATION DEPARTMENT AND THE SAN MATEO COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION REGARDING SERVICES PROVIDED BY GROUP SUPERVISORS AT
COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the Probation Department has been requested to assist teachers with conflict management at the San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) Community Schools, and to further assist probationers in complying with the conditions of probation including maintaining school attendance and behavior; and

WHEREAS, Probation has provided this support for a number of years without a formalized agreement; and

WHEREAS Probation and SMCOE have collaborated on the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which lays out the roles and responsibilities governing the actions of both parties and further describes the financial arrangements pertaining to reimbursement for Probation’s services; and

WHEREAS, both parties now wish to enter into an MOU, to secure the provision of conflict management and probation compliance services for students who attend the Community Schools, for the period of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008,

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the Chief Probation Officer to enter into an agreement with the SMCOE for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo.
