RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING 1) EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH TRUSTAFF TRAVEL NURSES, LLC TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL NURSING SUPERVISORY STAFF AT SAN MATEO MEDICAL CENTER FOR A TERM OF NOVEMBER 1, 2007 THROUGH OCTOBER 31, 2008 IN AN AMOUNT PAYABLE NOT TO EXCEED $185,000 AND 2) AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF SAN MATEO MEDICAL CENTER TO EXECUTE CONTRACT AMENDMENTS WHICH MODIFY THE COUNTY’S MAXIMUM FISCAL OBLIGATION BY NO MORE THAN $25,000 (IN AGGREGATE), AND/OR MODIFY THE CONTRACT TERM AND/OR SERVICES SO LONG AS THE MODIFIED TERM OR SERVICES IS/ARE WITHIN THE CURRENT OR REVISED FISCAL PROVISIONS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its

consideration and acceptance agreements, reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, whereby Trustaff Travel Nurses, LLC shall provide an interim evening nursing supervisor at San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC); and

WHEREAS, the previous evening nurse supervisor accepted the position of Nurse Manager for ICU and Respiratory Care Services, thus creating this vacancy and the Human Resources Department has been unable to identify any qualified applicants for the position; and

WHEREAS, the position provides ongoing clinical and administrative support to the various units, staff, and patients by managing the operation of the hospital during non-business hours and weekends, and is therefore critical to the operation of SMMC; and

WHEREAS, both parties now wish to enter into an Agreement with Trustaff Travel Nurses, LLC to provide professional nursing supervisor staff at San Mateo Medical Center for a term of November 1, 2007 through October 31, 2008 in an amount payable not to exceed $185,000; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of the agreement and has examined and approved it as to both form and content and desires to enter into the Agreement.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute said agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signatures thereto.

IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chief Executive Officer of San Mateo Medical Center shall be authorized to execute subsequent Amendments and minor modifications not to exceed $25,000 and to make minor changes in the type of services and activities provided under the Agreement.
