THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING

William J. Cameron

Upon his retirement after 25 years with

the San Mateo County Planning and Building Department

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, William J. Cameron joined the county in May 1982 as a carpenter for what was then known as General Services, and was there for two weeks before transferring to the Planning and Building Division as a building inspector; and

   

WHEREAS, Bill’s background as a journeyman carpenter and as a licensed contractor helped him quickly gain insights and experiences; so by 1990, Bill had become the county’s Building Official, now known as the Building Inspection Manger; and

   

WHEREAS, over the years, Bill has seen first-hand the physical and emotional devastation following geologic disasters, including the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, multiple landslides and floods in Millbrae, La Honda, San Gregorio, Pescadero, Broadmoor and the deadly 1998 Loma Mar debris flow; and

   

WHEREAS, Bill’s legacy of professionalism and pride in the work are reflected in his staff and in the overall atmosphere of the office, as Bill recognized the importance of creating lighter moments amid the highly serious task of ensuring the health and safety of all who live, work, recreate or attend school in San Mateo County.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates William J. Cameron upon his retirement after more than 25 years of dedicated service to the people of the Peninsula. The Board hereby extends its gratitude and adds sincere wishes to Bill and his family for many more years of continuous peace, health and happiness, plus success in all future endeavors.
