RESOLUTION APPROVING AN EXTENSION OF THE PILOT GREEN BUSINESS PROGRAM INTO FULL SAN MATEO COUNTYWIDE ROLLOUT

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has successfully completed the first six months of a pilot Green Business Program in San Mateo County;

WHEREAS, San Mateo County’s Green Business Program has established collaborative working relationships with coordinators in six cities, local utility companies, the South Bayside Waste Management Authority (SBWMA) and the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG); WHEREAS, This program is also known as the ABAG Bay Area Green Business Program (BAGBP);

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Green Business Program has certified 17 businesses at the conclusion of the current pilot program, and is targeting to certify an additional 15 businesses in Phase II (“Ramp Up) of the program; and is projected to certify about 30 businesses each year during Phase III (“Full Rollout) of the program. WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Green Business Program provides an important tool for addressing commercial sector energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction/recycling diversion and pollution prevention, countywide.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors approves the extension and full rollout of the Green Business Program, and accepts the Green Business Program Report as attached.
