PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING FEBRUARY 10-16, 2008, AS

Future Business Leaders

of America-ΦBΛ Week

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda is a non-profit, educational organization, with roots dating to the late-1930s, when a national umbrella organization was first proposed to comprise the thousands of high school and college business clubs that existed across the United States; and

   

WHEREAS, from the 1942 experimental chapter in Johnson City, Tennessee, through today, FBLA-ΦBΛ has grown to become the largest business career student organization in the world, with 240,000 members from grade 5 through undergraduates, plus 3,000 members in the Professional Division and 11,000 advisers; and

   

WHEREAS, FBLA-ΦBΛ members participate in community service activities to help instill the values of business leadership, while and striving to build a student's understanding of the realities of the modern corporate world; and

   

WHEREAS, FBLA-ΦBΛ is a highly respected organization dedicated to bringing together business and education to create positive working relationships through multiple, innovative programs designed to foster the growth and development of professional principles.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County designates the week of February 10-16, 2008, as Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda Week in san Mateo County. The Board hereby expresses its gratitude to all FBLA-ΦBΛ chapters in the county and extends sincere wishes for many years of continued excellence.
