Jack has been a County employee since 2001 and provides outstanding customer service as the Clerk of the Assessment Appeals Board. Jack ably handles sensitive and often complex assessment appeals involving millions of dollars. He graciously handles the variety of issues that come before the Assessment Appeals Board and always has a cheerful hello for everyone entering the office.
Jack is also a talented photographer that has generously donated more than 20 striking photographs of the peninsula for the benefit of San Mateo County. His work graces hallways and meetings rooms in the offices of the Board of Supervisors and County Manager’s Office. Jack’s photos add a touch of scenic beauty to otherwise white walls. They are a visual relief and a reminder that we live and work in one of the most beautiful areas anywhere. His photos include images of the Pigeon Point Lighthouse at sunset, fields of flowers and birds at a marsh. The San Mateo Bridge, busy freeways and buildings are transformed by Jack’s camera into works of art.
Jack’s photographs were featured in San Mateo County’s award winning State Fair booth, the County’s annual profile and now the masthead to the new County home page. Jack captures and shares the vision of the County in his photographs.
Many members of the public who have passed through the Board and County Manager’s offices have asked who took the photos. Many probably assume the County paid a lot of money to a professional photographer, perhaps questioning the wisdom of such expenditure.
It’s rewarding to say that a member of our County family is the one with the fine eye and steady hand. He may not charge the County for his work but we are nevertheless in debt to Jack.
Our County is fortunate to have exemplary employees like Jack Yaco who bring their professional and personal passion to our work place.
